Use coaching
to address the following professional challenges that can occur
for spouses in the military lifestyle:
-
Starting and
stopping your career with each PCS
-
-
Dissatisfaction
with current work
-
-
Shifting to
another career
-
-
Pursuing a
degree/going back to school
-
-
Re-crafting your
career to make it more portable
-
-
Re-entering your
career after having not been engaged in it for a period of
time
Tips
for managing professional challenges
-
Be present in
your community. Be open to striking up conversations with
people. It could produce a career-related lead.
-
-
Carry
professionally produced copies of your resume/vita with
you. You may decide to add a cover page describing your
professional background, experiences and unique skills. Put
this information in envelopes, and keep them in your
vehicle. You may create an opportunity to give your
resume/vita to a potential lead.
-
-
Attend
professional meetings (local, regional, and national) that
relate to your career field or the career that you are interested
in pursuing. Be sure to have your resume/vita with
you.
-
-
Develop a
relationship with a local mentor to facilitate connection to
career opportunities in your area and to offer guidance and
encouragement.
-
-
Talk openly
with your spouse about what you want and need for your career and
professional identity.
