My interest in coaching people who have had gastric bypass surgery stems from the time I spent assisting a family member during her first two weeks of recovery from an open Roux-en-Y procedure.

I know the lifestyle changes required in those first weeks post-surgery:

  • I made small meals of liquid and pureed food
  • I tracked intake of daily vitamin supplements
  • I tracked daily protein and water intake
  • I stood beside the treadmill, encouraging walking up to 45 minutes a day

I also know the sustained effort required after several months have passed, especially in how you relate to food and in maintaining exercise.  I still talk once a week with my family member who had weight loss surgery.

(As a side note, in my role as a licensed psychologist, I conduct pre-surgical psychological evaluations of candidates for gastric bypass surgery.)

I can bring my coaching skills and personal experience to the table (no pun intended) to assist in you staying on track with your nutritional and exercise goals in order to maximize your post-surgical results.

Individual and group coaching is available.  I am collaborating with Dr. Angela Gilbert of Explore Options Consulting (also a life coach and psychologist) to offer coaching groups.

Call me at (804) 224-7059 or e-mail coachjt@thrivewithcoaching.com to set up an initial consultation at no obligation.
